Project Description
The red and yellow cedar used in the cedar strip kayak in my entry was obtained from the forests in southeast Alaska. It required the patient task of milling many logs before locating kayak quality cedar which was difficult to find. The amount of cedar needed to build an 18ft long kayak was approximately 2, 2X6s, 18ft long, valued at about $360.00. This kayak, I made for my wife is 169" long and made from red and yellow cedar I milled and then sawed into strips 3/16" X 3/4" X18. It was a great winter project.
