Coffee Table Milled from 1889 Hand Hewn Beams

Jason Orth

LT15 Wide

Project Description
In the summer of 2022, my kids and I dismantled a barn that was built in 1889. It was a timberframe with hand hewn posts and beams. This coffee table was made from a post that was part of the roof structure of this barn. I used my LT15 Wide to mill off two faces of the beam to create a smooth top while keeping the hand hewn edges and the old hand cut mortise. The legs were milled on my LT15 Wide from a section of a floor beam from the same barn to keep the hand hewn face visible on one side.
