LT35HD
Project Description < br />
Our mission is to build and erect 50 bird houses in 2021 to provide nesting locations for barred, barn and screech owls, kestrels, wood duck, bats, tree swallows, bluebirds, wrens, woodpeckers, and maybe even some purple martins. The houses will be placed around the 175 acres of our Habitat Oasis Project in SE Ohio as well as donated to our adjacent neighbors and national forest.
This is a great opportunity for us to learn how to use the Wood-Mizer LT35HD without incurring costly mistakes as the birds arent that demanding and dont require architectural precision, so every board is useful. This project is also a great opportunity to involve our children and the neighboring youth in the project to get them interested in conservation but more importantly introduce them to the fun and skills associated with building with wood. We are in discussions with a Cub Scout Troop for assistance in completing the house assembly with their help installing.
In the last 8 months we have been recognized with 3 conservation awards for the Habitat Oasis Project and we believe The 50 House Project will help us create even more awareness.
2020 Hocking County Soil & Water Conservation Districts Cooperator of the Year award
2020 Habitat Award from the Pheasants Forever, Fields to Ridges Chapter
2020-21 Polaris Habitat Stewardship Award (Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever)
This project is good for the kids, the wildlife, and the overall awareness of the importance of conservation.
