Using only a handful of photos, I made a scale model of the boat. Using that model, I drew out the plans full size, a process known as lofting, and from there I built the molds and jig to build the boat around. The stem, keel, steam bending framing, and transom are all White Oak. The planking is made up up three layers of Northern White Cedar. The gunwales are White Oak, and the interior seats are White Pine. All the wood, from the model, to building jig, to the boat, came from Wisconsin trees.
